Time is like Water and the Past is Ice

We often think of time as a river passing by, or we talk about time as an ocean. I think those metaphors are totally wrong!

There is such a huge difference between past, present and future, for me they are more like ice, water and steam.

Some years ago I turned these thoughts into a photo exhibition and a performance. Today the concept came up in a conversation and I got the idea to go back and see how I look at the pictures and thoughts today. So here we go — a mixture of ice and water!

Past — Frozen into the Ice

Can’t put my hand trough the ice and change it
Therefore
— it’s a solid ground to stand on

Thirteen billion years of ice
And I’m here now
What a wonder!

With open eyes
— all the cracks in the ice of the past are beautiful

Only Now can I change how I see what’s there in the ice

The cracks and stones, the golden light …
What do I see?

Dead and gone
The image remains

Water and Steam to follow …
