Time is like Water and the Past is Ice

We often think of time as a river passing by, or we talk about time as an ocean. I think those metaphors are totally wrong!

There is such a huge difference between past, present and future, for me they are more like ice, water and steam.

Some years ago I turned these thoughts into a photo exhibition and a performance. Today the concept came up in a conversation and I got the idea to go back and see how I look at the pictures and thoughts today. So here we go — a mixture of ice and water!

Past — Frozen into the Ice

Can’t put my hand trough the ice and change it
Therefore
— it’s a solid ground to stand on

Thirteen billion years of ice
And I’m here now
What a wonder!

With open eyes
— all the cracks in the ice of the past are beautiful

Only Now can I change how I see what’s there in the ice

The cracks and stones, the golden light …
What do I see?

Dead and gone
The image remains

Water and Steam to follow …

Different Deaths

Or …

Power from the Cambrian Age

When I took the boat from Marseille to Corsica, I went out on deck when we left the harbor. I looked up the huge chimney of the ferry and I had two very different thoughts …

— What a lot of pollution! I should have gone by sailing boat instead.
— What a great power! Thank you all wonderful plants from the Cambrian era.

Without the oil, the technology and all these things modernity brought us — I wouldn’t have been on this journey. I would have had nine kids, doing hard body work, no computer and a narrow worldview.

These plants, who grew millions of years ago, and whose ashes now are coming out the chimney  — I just love them and feel so much gratitude.

And yes, we need a new technology …

Always all Seasons

Took those pictures of autumn leaves in Corsica today, the 4th of December. I’ve been moving south since September and seen the autumn leaves in Sweden, Denmark, Germany and France on my way.  The longest autumn of my life — love the colors and the melancholic tone!

As a single human I can only have one season at a time. But just now Humanity and Planet are experiencing a lot of different seasons. Wow, right now I can really feel all these seasons at the same time! Of course I’ve known that it’s this way. That they have summer in Australia, it’s winter in the Arctic and wet season in Indonesia. But this experience of all the seasons simultaneously is new.

Yes, it is one climate.
I get that now.

One Humanity and one climate system.

Now.

Being a part of Humanity …

Vico

Walked to Vico and did some grocery shopping
On the way home I stopped and looked at the mountains swept in mist

Felt into being a single human before this magnificent nature
— Small, overwhelmed, insignificant …

Decided to identify with the Field of Humanity
and as a part of that field stand before Nature

A totally different relation
— Love, care, responsibility

Big Heart of Humanity …
